🗳️ Peer Power: Young People Leading the Way on Voting

What if the best way to get young people voting… is other young people?

That’s the idea behind our Peer Educator Model... and it works.

We believe that when young people lead the

conversation about democracy, amazing things happen. That’s why we train and support young changemakers to become Peer Educators. We support them to run workshops, events, and campaigns that get their friends, classmates, and communities informed and excited about voting.

“I didn’t know anything about registering to vote before the session. Now I feel confident and even helped my friends sign up too. It felt good to learn from someone my age who gets it.”

💥 Why It Works

Peer education is powerful because it’s relatable, real, and rooted in community. Our Peer Educators know what it’s like to feel unheard and confused, and they’re passionate about changing that.

They don’t just deliver information. They create space for honest conversations, answer questions whilst remaining impartial, and inspire action. Whether it’s a classroom, a youth club, or a pop-up stall in a library, they meet young people where they are so they can reach people who are not engaged.

💡 Lessons We’ve Learned

  • Support from teachers and staff is key. When they back their students or youth group participants, the impact is huge.

  • Smaller sessions = deeper conversations, but big assemblies help us reach more people with key information quickly.

  • Flexibility is everything. Our Peer Educators are creative problem-solvers who adapt when plans change.

  • Ongoing support matters. Weekly drop-ins and co-designed resources help our educators thrive, and several sessions is often key to taking a young person from unengaged to informed and enthusiastic.
